About Me

Meet Maggie! Special needs means special love!
This wonderful girl is looking for a special family to take care of her and love her. She is about 5 years old and full Rottie. She was given to a family because the breeder knew he couldn’t sell her due to, what he thought, was a neurological issue.
She is fully mobile but the family realized, after they were unable to potty train her, that she is incontinent. They did not know how to care for her so they built her a home outside and are doing their best to keep her and the area clean. We got her into our vet for scans to determine what exactly was wrong, and determine if it is something that could be fixed. Unfortunately it is not. The vet determined that Maggie’s momma had either stepped or laid on her and damaged the sacral area of her spine and nerves. She is also unable to wiggle her nubby, poor girl.
Due to family issues, the owner is now away much too long and feels that Maggie deserves a better life than what she can give her. So, we are looking for that certain someone who has experience with special needs dogs. She will need to wear diapers and have her bladder expressed. She is a loving, sweet girl and with a little care, she will give you back tenfold in love and affection.
She is located in the Florida Panhandle. However, she loves car rides and would have no problem being transported. The primary thing is finding just the right home.

Want to Adopt me?

If you are interested in adopting Maggie, please complete our pre-adoption application. We will require two personal references and a vet reference. We also do home checks and a meet and greet prior to adoption.

Please click the Adopt Me button to go to the application form.

If you are unable to adopt at this time but want to help us in our rescue efforts, please click on the Donate Now button. All donations go directly to the medical costs and comfort of the Rottweilers in our care while they wait for their forever home.

About Me

Bonnie has made it through treatment and is healthy and ready to find her forever home! This girl is just amazing and is the reason why we rescue. In the not too distant past, she never would have made it out of the shelter. Her condition would have made her an immediate candidate to be put down. But not any more! County shelters are now doing an amazing job of networking dogs like Bonnie with local rescues and work very hard to get them out and into medical care they need to survive. Every dog deserves to know comfort and love, and it is now Bonnie’s turn to have a forever home!

Bonnie is a fighter and living her best life! This poor baby was rescued from one of our local shelters, emaciated, missing most of her teeth, missing hair from malnutrition and fleas, and high heart worm positive. Basically with everything against her! But she wasn’t going to let that keep her down. She went into the most amazing foster home where she has been getting spoiled and pampered and the most amazing care. And our girl is coming out on top!

She was diagnosed with Caval Syndrome back in December. Caval syndrome (CS) is a life-threatening illness caused by a mass of heartworms located aberrantly in the right atrium, the ventricle, and often the vena cava. The worm mass interferes with closure of the tricuspid valve and impedes normal flow of blood through the right heart, leading to cardiovascular collapse. Her foster mom rushed her into the vet and we decided to try a new method of reversing CS. Standard practice was to surgically remove the mass of worms, which still only had a 60% survival rate. Instead, Bonnie was put on a series of cardiovascular medication with strict kennel rest to keep her heart rate down. And it has worked. She still got short of breath, and had an occasional cough, but she is surviving and happy. The vet has determined that she was finally ready to go through fast kill treatment.
